Oy vey, well it’s been quite the busy summer around here! I swear until this very moment we haven’t had two seconds to blog, so please accept my apologies for the radio silence! But we have some good reasons and I am thrilled to present one of them.

Silverado Trail Wedding Stationery Suite

Marissa and Kevin initially connected with us through Lindsey of L’Relyea Events last spring and when I heard about their plans for a Calistoga wedding (hello) as well as their refreshingly unique color palette, I was hooked. Then they started talking about how they love texturey-paper and visiting wine on the Silverado Trail and I knew something special was about to happen.

Marissa and Kevin knew they wanted their wedding stationery to be a custom design and they also loved letterpress printing, so the suite started taking shape from there. With a classic, yet contemporary wedding aesthetic, the design incorporated graphic grapevines and clean typography. An illustrated Napa map insert flat printed on Arturo cardstock featured locations that were pertinent to the wedding weekend, as well as the aforementioned favorite wineries along the Silverado Trail. The entire invitation suite was enclosed in a kraft pocketfolder, tied with hand-dyed organic twine and sealed with a cream wax seal featuring the couple's wedding monogram.

The elements were later carried into a bevy of Day Of materials, ranging from Program Fans (to combat the July heat in Calistoga) to Favor Hang Tags, Hanging Escort Cards, Place Cards, wine varietal Table Numbers, Signage and beyond. They even incorporated the graphic scheme into their photo booth prints and an etched wooden guest book.

You can see all the photos of this stationery suite in our portfolio here. Or check out some preview photos of the actual wedding from their photographer, Stacey Pentland  (be ready for some major wedding eye candy) here. I’m sure there will be more to come from all the amazing vendors Lindsey pulled together for this affair!

Congratulations and Thank You, Marissa and Kevin!!!

Although I posted portfolio photos of our wedding invitation suite on our site weeks ago, I am only just now officially sharing the details on them. I can’t wait to share images from the event itself, and will finally be doing so in the coming weeks.

Sealed with a kiss! Wedding photo by Brown Butter PhotographyRocky and I were married at Hans Fahden, a small cabernet vineyard in Calistoga (at the top of Napa Valley) last October, “during the wine harvest” as our Save the Dates announced. As an invitation designer I had high hopes that I would really nail the design, but more importantly, Rocky and I both wanted the suite to eloquently set the tone of our relationship and wedding for our guests; many of whom were flying across the United States to celebrate with us. We also didn’t want anything too fussy, matchy-matchy or overdone (of course definitions for which are completely subjective!) In the end, we were 100% happy with the result, which was a labor of love that reflected elements meaningful to the setting, time of year and most significantly, us as a couple. So without further ado, below are the ins and outs of our so-called Wine Harvest Wedding Suite:

The entire suite, clockwise from left: Illustrated, printed canvas map-wrapped suite, reverse letterpressed invitation, letterpressed reply card, foodie-inspired escort cards with wine cork stands, small engagement photo/wedding url insert, screen printed dinner menu, wine-stained wine list, homemade mead favor, personal letter welcoming each guest, pocket-sized program booklet, reply envelope, invitation suite outer envelope with ombre addressing

Outer Envelope: Letterpress printed reply address and flat printed, ombre-effect recipient address on Crane’s Crest 100% cotton paper A9 envelope in ecru. Monarch Butterfly postage stamp from USPS. Not shown: envelopes were lined in pomegranate rice paper.

Enclosed invitation suite wrapped in a custom-illustrated map of the route from San Francisco (where we live) to Calistoga (where we got married!) Various wine appellations (Carneros, Rutherford, etc.) were highlighted with a wine-stained watercolor effect. Flat printed on canvas, wrapped around invitation and etceteras, and fastened with a wax seal featuring our initials and wedding date.

Custom wax seal featuring our initials & wedding date. This was definitely Rocky’s favorite part!

Beneath the map: Reverse letterpress printed invitation, set in the typeface Adios and printed by Mama's Sauce on 220# Crane Lettra 100% cotton paper stock in ecru. Reply card, envelope and engagement photo/url insert tied with antique silk ribbon (from the Alameda Flea!)

Detail of reverse letterpress printing. Instead of the text being pressed down, (as in traditional letterpress printing) the inked area around them was, so they had an embossed effect.

Reply Card and Envelope: Reply card is letterpress printed on 110# Crane Lettra 100% cotton paper stock in ecru. Reply envelope is Moss Green with a custom rubber stamped return address and Rustic Garden stamps from USPS.

Detail of letterpress printed reply card with “foodie’” icons and an area for guests to write-in travel plans (which came in handy when we distributed the Welcome Bags.)

Small flat printed insert featuring an engagement photo (of us walking on Baker Beach) and our wedding url. Not shown is the pomegranate rice paper backing, also used on the envelope liner.

More to come tomorrow, when I share Part 2 of our suite, the “Day Of” collateral!

I love Daylight Savings time – the extra hour is something I look forward to every fall (but dread losing in the spring!) Today I used my extra time to finally photograph my wedding stationery suite. I am so excited to share all the details, but for now, here's a preview image of the invitation and some of the day-of collateral (program, escort cards, menus, favor and the likes). Rocky and I were/still are thrilled with how everything came together! And he helped a ton! I will post about the details in the coming weeks.

We are excited to share three additions to our Wedding Collection! All of the invitation suites in our collection can be customized with your preferred color palette, text and printing technique. Each design features “the basics” like invitations, reply cards and coordinating envelopes, but can also be extended into matching save the dates, additional embellishments, (ribbon, belly bands, envelope liners, custom rubber stamps, address labels) detail cards (directions, accommodations, brunch) and day-of collateral including signage, escort cards, programs… the list is infinite. Check out our new designs below and contact us if you are interested in customizing one of our designs for your wedding!
