Line, space, form, color, texture, value, shape – the seven elements of art all play important roles in graphic design. However, since I first gripped a crayola crayon, color has been the element nearest and dearest to my heart. Which is why am thrilled to see that San Francisco’s Exploratorium is currently displaying an amazing exhibit on the wonders of color.
Coined ColorFest, the show invites children and adults alike to “experience light and color in unexpected ways. From perception to pigments, this two-month extravaganza will feature a full spectrum of over 30 color-related exhibits, a six-part film series, weekly color science demonstrations, DIY-oriented adult seminars, and after dark events that mix color and cocktails.”
The Adult Seminars offer hands-on instruction on pigment mixing, dyeing, and synesthesia (to name a few.) Although I think August's “blue” After Dark event might be more my cup of tea :-)
